Accessibility is the right thing to do.
Let’s make your electronic documents accessible to everyone.
Document Accessibility Basics
Assistive
Technology Users
An accessible document allows users who are blind, have low vision, or have a cognitive disability to use assistive technology, such as a screen reader, to read the document. If a document has not been created with accessibility in mind, it will not have the necessary elements and structure to make this happen.
Accessibility
Standards
A variety of standards exist that can confirm whether electronic content is accessible. Examples include WCAG 2.0/2.1 AA, Section 508, PDF/UA, and HHS. You decide which standard(s) you wish to meet. We will remediate your documents to ensure they comply with your choice of standards.
Document
Tag Structure
Documents must include an accurate tag structure to ensure screen readers can accurately announce each type of element. Tags also allow users to navigate the document by jumping to the specific elements they need. You can think of tags as “labels” that “define” each element as a heading, a paragraph, an image, a link, a list, a table, or a form.
Testing &
Remediation
A remediator tests the document with automated checkers and examines it using manual reviews to discover whether the appropriate elements and structure are in place. If not, the document is repaired and re-tested until it is compliant with accessibility standards.
